•Chicago’s Goose Island Beer Company is prepping the launch of two barrel-aged Bourbon County releases, Cherry Rye Bourbon County Brand Stout and the 2012 edition of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout. Newcomer Cherry Rye is made with whole Michigan cherries and aged in rye whiskey barrels, while this year’s Coffee Stout edition is made with Intelligentsia La Tortuga coffee beans. First introduced in 2010, previous Coffee Stouts have featured Intelligentsia Anjilanaka and Intelligentsia Black Cat Espresso coffee beans. Limited quantities of both brews will begin rolling out at retail on Black Friday (November 23) in select U.S. markets. Goose Island was acquired by Anheuser-Busch last year for $39 million.
•Craft beer bar and retail concept World of Beer has opened a new outpost in Columbus, Ohio. Located in the city’s Easton Town Center, the venue—World of Beer’s second in Columbus—features more than 500 bottled beers and a rotating selection of 35 draft offerings from around the world. Represented regional breweries include the Columbus Brewing Company, Elevator Brewing Company and Four Strings Brewing Company. In addition to its beer selection, World of Beer Easton offers food from nearby restaurants such as Max & Erma’s, Flip Side, Jimmy John’s, McCormick & Schmick’s and Donatos. Founded in 2007, World of Beer currently operates 32 venues around the U.S. Four new locations are slated to soon open in Evanston, Illinois; Kendall, Florida; Dallas, Texas; and Birmingham, Alabama.
