•Smashburger has teamed up with Tempe, Arizona-based Four Peaks Brewing Co. on burger-beer pairings at the fast-casual chain’s Arizona locations. Suggested pairings include the Classic Smashburger with Kilt Lifter Scottish-Style Ale, and Avocado Club Burger with 8th Street English-Style Pale Ale. The 200-unit Smashburger has done menu pairings with other craft brewers including Sixpoint Brewery in New York, Goose Island Beer in Illinois, St. Arnold Brewing in Texas and New Belgium Brewing in Colorado. More are in the works, the company said.
•Downingtown, Pennsylvania-based Victory Brewing Co. is set to launch White Monkey (9.5% abv), a new barrel-aged brew, on March 2. A spinoff of Victory’s Golden Monkey Belgian-style tripel, the limited edition offering is aged in white wine barrels from Livermore, California’s Wente Vineyards for three months, then packaged in 750-ml. bottles. Approximately 2,800 cases of White Monkey will be released, available in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, northern Virginia, New York City, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Colorado and Florida. White Monkey follows a pair of recent barrel-aged releases from Victory, including the brewer’s November launch of red wine barrel-aged Red Thunder and the December release of Bourbon barrel-aged Oak Horizontal.
