Bacardi Taps Foster’s Veteran For CMO Post

Bacardi Ltd. has filled its chief marketing officer position, which has been vacant since Sylvia Lagnado departed at the end of 2012. Andy Gibson has been named to succeed Lagnado, taking the title of president, Bacardi Global Brands, in addition to CMO. Gibson has 20 years’ experience in consumer products marketing, most recently as CMO of Australia’s Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), part of Foster’s Group. Prior to joining CUB, Gibson held a series of general management and marketing leadership positions over a 13-year tenure with Diageo, including senior vice president and global brand director—rums; and marketing director for both Australia and Mexico.

Gibson will join Bacardi in late April and will be based at the Bacardi Global Brands headquarters in London. He will report directly to Bacardi president and CEO Ed Shirley.
