Yellow Tail Makes Foray Into Surging Sangria Category

Australia’s Yellow Tail is introducing an entry in one of the U.S. wine market’s hottest categories: sangria. Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits will be rolling out Yellow Tail Sangria starting in September. The new offering—a mix of red wine and citrus—will be available in 750-ml. and 1.5-liter bottles, retailing for $6.99 and $12.99, respectively. For the 52 weeks ending March 2, sangrias priced above $6 a 750-ml. enjoyed value growth of more than 25%, according to Nielsen. Long the U.S. imported wine market’s top-selling brand, Yellow Tail now features 12 varietals, eight blends, and a sparkling white and rosé wine, while the brand’s upscale Yellow Tail Reserve line includes an additional five varietals.
