EXCLUSIVE: Fleming’s Launches Proprietary iPad Wine List

May 1, 2013

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar has gone digital with its wine list through the introduction of its proprietary WiNEPAD, an Apple iPad customized to the restaurant’s specifications. The device allows customers to search Fleming’s wine list through a variety of sort functions, including options like varietal and region, as well as by wine ratings from publications like Wine Spectator, “Local Selections” chosen by the location’s wine manager, and by the “What’s Your Mood?” function, which groups wines by descriptors like “Earthy & Complex” and “Fragrant & Fruity.” Additional sort functions fall under the “Fleming’s Recommends” tab, including “Maeve’s Raves,” a list of five wines selected by Fleming’s national wine director Maeve Pesquera that are updated regularly; “Perfect Pairings,” which offers three wine recommendations for each food item on the Fleming’s menu; and the “Spin the Bottle” function, a randomizer that picks a different label off the wine list each time it’s selected.
