Wirtz, Johnson Brothers Partner In Iowa

May 2, 2013

Wirtz Beverage Group has announced its second strategic partnership in a week—a tie-up with Johnson Brothers that will see the two join forces on a spirits brokerage business in Iowa. The new venture, launched yesterday, is known as the JBW Group, and will become “the premier spirits brokerage team in the state,” according to a joint statement from Wirtz and Johnson Bros.

Wirtz, which has operations in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada and Wisconsin, is projecting revenues of $1.8 billion for 2013, according to Impact. Johnson Bros., which has licenses in 22 states, is projecting 2013 revenues of $1.6 billion. Just last Thursday, Wirtz announced it was entering Missouri through a joint deal with Warren Buffett’s McLane to acquire part of that state’s Missouri Beverage.
