•Cleveland-based Great Lakes Brewing Co. is set to expand its distribution in a number of existing markets. In the second quarter of this year, Great Lakes will move into south central Pennsylvania (Gettysburg and Harrisburg); followed by the West Virginia panhandle, Indiana, Minnesota (St. Cloud) and the remainder of Pennsylvania (northeast and north central) in the third quarter; and further into North Carolina (central, Asheville and coastal) beginning in the fourth quarter. Concurrently, the brewer will continue investing in a number of improvements to its Ohio City brewery. Great Lakes’ brews are currently available across 13 states and Washington, D.C.
•New York’s Original Sin Corp. is launching a new flavored hard cider to its lineup, Original Sin Elderberry Cider. It will be available in 12-ounce bottles and kegs, initially rolling out in Ohio, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, California, Illinois and Indiana, with more markets to follow over the next two months. Elderberry joins the company’s core Original Sin hard apple cider, Original Sin Pear, Newtown Pippin Single Heirloom Varietal and Cherry Tree. Last year, Original Sin was up 28% to 160,000 cases in the U.S. market, according to Impact Databank.
