•Total Wine & More is launching its new Virtual Wine Tasting program with a live webcast tasting of Caymus Vineyards’ 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Airing June 29, the debut webcast will be hosted by Caymus winemaker Chuck Wagner, who will lead an interactive tasting session for customers via in-store video streaming. In addition to the Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, participating customers will be offered tastings of the Wagner family’s Conundrum California white wine, Mer Soleil Silver Unoaked Chardonnay, Meiomi Pinot Noir and Belle Glos Las Alturas Pinot Noir. The event, which costs $20 per person, will be held at all Total Wine stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington state.
•Beam Inc. has appointed Pryce Greenow to the newly created position of managing director—Emerging Markets, South America. Greenow has been at Beam for the past eight years, holding a variety of sales and marketing leadership positions with increasing responsibility. Most recently, he was vice president group general manager for the U.S. and Mexico, a commercially-focused role with additional responsibilities for strategy, activation and revenue management for the North American region. Greenow has also led integration projects following the acquisitions of Skinnygirl Cocktails in 2011 and Pinnacle Vodka in 2012. He will be relocating from Chicago to South America over the next several months. His appointment is effective July 15.
•Entrepreneur and winemaker Sunny Fraser has introduced a new line of prepackaged wine-by-the-glass offerings in the U.S. market. Available in a unique 187-ml. glass tube and sealed with a screw cap, The Vini wines are available in a red, Zinfandel-based blend made with Napa grapes and a white, Chardonnay-based blend sourced from Sonoma. In addition to being sold online, The Vini range will initially launch in the South Florida market, available at select retail and hotel locations, including Perricone’s Marketplace, Vintage Liquor Midtown, South Beach Marriott and The St. Regis Bal Harbour, among others.
•German liqueur brand Berentzen has added a new Wild Cherry expression to its U.S. portfolio. Made with real cherries, the 16%-abv liqueur can be served on the rocks, as a chilled shot or in cocktails. Berentzen Wild Cherry is currently available nationwide in 750-ml. and 1-liter formats, priced at around $19.99 a 750-ml. The new offering joins Berentzen’s Pear entry and its flagship Apple expression, which does roughly 10,000 cases in the U.S. market.
