Brown-Forman Investing $35M In Woodford Reserve Expansion

June 28, 2013

Brown-Forman has unveiled plans to invest more than $35 million in the expansion of its Woodford Reserve Distillery. Located in Versailles, Kentucky, the updated facility will include three new maturation warehouses, able to collectively house more than 165,000 barrels. Other improvements will include the addition of three new pot stills, an expanded bottling line and various efficiency upgrades. The project is set to begin this fall and be completed within a three-year period.

The distillery’s expansion is intended to help Woodford Reserve keep pace with rising global demand. For fiscal 2013, the Bourbon brand grew net sales by 28% to reach a total of 250,000 nine-liter cases worldwide, according to Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris. In the U.S., Woodford is projected to surpass the 200,000-case mark this year.
