EXCLUSIVE: Terlato Partners With Olive Oil Producer Colavita On New Wine Brand

July 15, 2013

Terlato Wines is set to launch a new super-premium Italian wine brand later this summer in collaboration with olive oil producer Colavita, Shanken News Daily has learned. Terlato will produce and market the new line under the Colavita label, with the brand slated to hit national distribution next month. The Colavita wine brand initially will include a Pinot Grigio, Verdicchio, Pinot Noir and Valpolicella Ripasso, with more wines in the pipeline.

“Colavita is one of the most well-known and successful Italian brands in the world,” said Bill Terlato, CEO of Terlato Wines. “It’s a highly sought-after brand with high awareness among food and wine lovers.”

Terlato says this is the first time a leading food brand and leading wine company have partnered on a collection of authentic Italian wines. Colavita, among the top national brands in extra virgin olive oil, was founded in southern Italy’s Sant’Elia a Pianisi by Giovanni Colavita four generations ago. The idea to extend into wine was conceived by Colavita USA co-founders Enrico Colavita and John Profaci. Colavita said the group found Terlato to be “the strongest partner for marketing luxury wines,” and that he expected the new venture to enhance the entire Colavita brand.
