Angry Orchard Introduces Cinnful Apple

August 21, 2013

The Boston Beer Co. is set to add Cinnful Apple seasonal cider to Angry Orchard’s lineup in time for the fall and winter. Priced in line with the brand’s other offerings, the release of Cinnful Apple, which features a cinnamon spice flavor profile, also coincides with Angry Orchard’s first foray into the use of American apples (it was previously using European apples).

The brand’s lineup also includes three core flavors—Crisp Apple, Traditional Dry and Apple Ginger—and the Elderflower seasonal (all generally priced at $7.99-$9.99 a six-pack) as well as the Cider House Collection ($14.99 a 750-ml. bottle). After depleting 40,000 (2.25-gallon) cases in its first year on the market in 2011, Angry Orchard jumped ahead to 2.2 million cases last year, making it the number-two hard cider in the U.S. market and putting it within striking distance of category leader Woodchuck. The recent surge in popularity of the cider category in the U.S. has lead to many entries and new launches, including big industry players such as Stella Artois Cidre, Mike’s Hard Smashed Apple Cider and Michelob Ultra Light Cider.
