Jackson Family Bolsters Oregon Presence With Soléna Buy

August 21, 2013

Jackson Family Wines (JFW) has purchased Oregon’s Soléna Estate winery and 35 acres of vineyards from owners Laurent Montalieu and Danielle Andrus Montalieu for an undisclosed sum. Located in the Yamhill-Carlton region, Soléna’s 15,000-case winery facility includes a fermentation hall, barrel cellars, tasting hall and hospitality area. Not included in the sale is the winery’s namesake Soléna Estate brand—which will relocate production to a new facility in Dundee Hills—and its Domaine Danielle Laurent vineyard.

Jackson Family Wine Estates has made several major investments in Oregon over the past few months, adding the Zena Crown and Gran Moraine vineyard sites to its stable, among others. According to the company’s executive vice president and COO Hugh Reimers, the Soléna buy will help the company grow its focus on the luxury Pinot Noir segment in particular.
