•Athens, Georgia brewer Terrapin Beer Company is set to add a new entry to its Side Project Series, Pineapple Express. Described as a smoked pineapple Helles, the new brew is the result of Terrapin’s first annual “Employee Homebrew Challenge,” in which staffers were grouped into teams and directed to brew a 5-gallon batch of a unique brew, then choose a name, label concept and marketing approach. The 5.4%-abv Pineapple Express is being distributed in 22-ounce bottles and 1/6-barrel kegs throughout Terrapin’s distribution territory. Terrapin is minority-owned by MillerCoors.
•Pennsylvania-based Sly Fox Brewing says it surpassed the 15,000-barrel threshold this year for the first time, and will likely be at around 16,000 barrels by year-end. The company, which currently cans 10 different craft beers—including Helles Golden Lager, 113 India Pale Ale, Phoenix Pale Ale, Pikeland Pils and others—plans to release additional varieties in 2014. Sly Fox distributes to six states and Washington, D.C.Tagged : craft beer, Sly Fox, Terrapin
