Winebow CEO Jon Moramarco To DepartJanuary 24, 2014
Jon Moramarco is set to step down as president and CEO of wine and spirits importer and distributor Winebow, effective January 31. Winebow chairman Leonardo LoCascio will serve as interim CEO until a permanent successor to Moramarco is hired.
In a statement to SND, Winebow said Moramarco was brought on in 2010 to “help implement the change of majority ownership (from Los Angeles-based Freeman Spogli to fellow private equity Brazos, based in Dallas) and to strengthen the strategic direction for the company. During his tenure, these goals have been accomplished and a sound foundation for the business has been put in place to drive continued growth at Winebow.”
Under Moramarco’s leadership, Winebow extended its three-decade period of uninterrupted growth, and approached 2 million cases in volume with its import business, while also nurturing a small domestic wine portfolio. On the wholesale side, Winebow entered the Illinois market during Moramarco’s tenure, and subsequently expanded there with the acquisition of fellow wholesaler Vintage Wines, growing its wholesale footprint to six states plus Washington, D.C. and Montgomery County, Maryland.Tagged : Brazos, Freeman Spogli, Vintage Wines, Winebow
