Craft Brewing and Distilling News for March 27, 2014March 27, 2014
•As part of an expansion plan, Half Acre Beer Co. in Chicago has acquired a site for a second brewery just a mile north of its current facility. The company says it will move large fermentation tanks into a 60,000-square-foot former fluorescent light assembly plant, allowing it to add a kitchen and concentrate on smaller and experimental brews at its original 13,000-square-foot facility on Lincoln Avenue on Chicago’s north side. Founder Gabriel Magliaro told the Chicago Tribune that he plans to spread distribution beyond Chicago to a larger suburban footprint and add more seasonal releases, like Heyoka and Akari Shogun, in cans. The new brewery is expected to open in October, with an adjacent restaurant and brewpub to follow. Magliaro, a native of New Jersey, also hinted that he’s considering expansion to the East Coast.Tagged : Chicago Tribune, craft beer, Half Acre Beer Co.
