•New Jersey-based Vision Wine & Spirits has added Veneto winery Monte del Frà to its U.S. import portfolio. Established in 1958 by the Bonomo family, Monte del Frà has more than 140 hectares (346 acres) of vineyards near the town of Custoza and specializes in producing Amarone and Valpolicella Classico wines. Vision Wine & Spirits will handle a broad range of the Italian winery’s offerings, including its Custoza DOC ($15 a 750-ml.), Bardolino DOC ($15), Soave Classico ($19), Valpolicella Classico DOC ($20), Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC ($24), Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC ($27), Amarone della Valpolicella DOC ($60) and single-vineyard Amerone della Valpolicella Scarnocchio ($99). Monte del Frà is the 11th winery in Vision’s Italian import portfolio, joining Bellenda, Cozi, Montefiore and Tenuta Rocca, among others.
•Serrallés USA and Brooklyn-based Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur have formed a new U.S. sales and marketing partnership. The 22%-abv ginger liqueur will join Serrallés USA’s portfolio, which includes Don Q, Caliche Rum, Palo Viejo, Death’s Door Spirits, Wondermint and Kringle Cream Liqueur. Beginning in April and May, the rollout will focus on markets in the Northeast, with Southern Wine & Spirits distributing the product in New York, Fedway in New Jersey, Brescome Barton, Inc. in Connecticut and M.S. Walker in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and Maryland will follow later this year and national distribution is expected in 2015. Barrow’s retails for about $31.99 a 750-ml. and $19.99 a 375-ml.
•The family-owned Spanish company Diego Zamora Group has appointed Matthew Turner to take charge of Licor 43’s international marketing and innovation strategy. He will report directly to Thomas Clamens, managing director of Zamora International, and will work toward achieving the brand’s goal of doubling its current volume over the next few years. Most recently, Turner served as global brand controller for The Macallan, helping build the single malt Scotch whisky into a global brand.
