•Atlanta, Georgia-based Red Brick Brewing Company is introducing all of its year-round craft beers in aluminum cans. Beginning with Laughing Skull Amber Ale and followed by Hoplanta IPA, the company will expand its offering with the new packaging and also debut new styles available exclusively in cans in the coming year, such as new spring seasonal Hibiscuwit Belgian Wheat Ale. The new format is made with 90% certified recycled aluminum and requires 95% less energy to recycle, the company says.
•St. Paul, Minnesota’s Summit Brewing Company has released the 18th beer in its limited release Unchained Series, Hop Silo Double IPA. Available on draft and in four-packs of 16-ounce cans beginning the week of March 2, the new brew is the first double IPA from the company and the first Unchained series beer in a can. Hop Silo (8.3% abv) is brewed with Azacca hops for notes of pineapple, tangerine and pine as well as Zeus, Apollo, Lemondrop and Cascade hops, the company says. The Unchained Series debuted in 2009 and includes beers that each of Summit’s eight individual brewers create on their own. Summit’s portfolio of 14 beers is available in 18 states.
