•South Burlington, Vermont-based Magic Hat Brewing is extending availability of its Big Hundo IPA. Previously available only in Vermont, Big Hundo is a 9%-abv IPA made with Pale malts and Apollo and Simcoe hops. Due to popular demand, the label will now be sold at select locations across the country, packaged in 22-ounce bottles and on draft. In other company news, Magic Hat has also unveiled its latest summer seasonal, Stealin’ Time. A 5.5%-abv wheat ale, Stealin’ Time will be available in six-packs, 12-packs and 12-ounce bottles, as well as on draft, starting in April. Lastly, Magic Hat is set to release its Dream Machine IPL label—a combination India Pale Ale and Amber Lager—in cans for a limited time. Dream Machine, which was previously only offered on draft and in bottles, will be available in canned 12-packs at select grocery and convenience stores starting this May.
•Boston Beer is releasing its Angry Orchard Green Apple hard cider in 16-ounce cans. Green Apple is made with culinary Washington state apples for a slightly less tannic juice and a balanced green apple flavor, the company says. Angry Orchard Hop’n Mad Apple and its seasonal ciders, by contrast, are made with American culinary apples, while the brand’s other core cider styles are made with apples from France and Italy. Green Apple (5.0% abv) is available in six-packs for $7.99-$9.99 and in variety 12-packs with three other styles for $14.99-$17.99. The 16-ounce cans retail at $1.79-$1.99 and four-packs are priced at $6.99-$7.99. In 2014, The Angry Orchard line grew 81.3% to 14.5 million (2.25-gallon) cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Wasatch Brewery, part of Utah’s Salt Lake Brewing Company, has launched Polygamy Nitro Porter as a year-round packaged entry, making it one of the first breweries to bottle a nitrogenated brew. The 6%-abv porter is presented in 12-ounce bottles, and joins Wasatch’s session Polygamy Porter (4% abv), which has been around since 2001. Salt Lake Brewing operates five brewpubs and a wine and alehouse. The company’s Squatters Pub Brewery and Wasatch Brewery beers are distributed in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
