•Atlanta, Georgia’s SweetWater Brewing Company is entering the Chicago market this month through a distribution agreement with Lakeshore Beverage. Its launch will begin with draft offerings and on-premise accounts before rolling out in bottles, cans and Tackle Box variety packs at retail. SweetWater’s 420 Extra Pale Ale, IPA, Blue, Take Two Pils and Tackle Box will be available in Chicago. Multi-state distributor Hand Family Companies recently formed Lakeshore Beverage to enter the Chicago market, where it handles labels such as Duvel, Goose Island Beer Co. and Bud Light. SweetWater is continuing its geographic expansion following a $19 million expansion that it says will allow it to keep up with demand.
•U.K. craft cider maker Thatchers has launched its flagship Thatchers Gold label in select U.S. markets. A 4.8%-abv medium dry offering, Thatchers Gold is made with a blend of cider apple varieties, including Dabinett, Redstreak and Porters Perfection. It’s currently rolling out across 18 key markets, including New York City, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Nevada, among others, available in 330-ml. four-packs ($8.99), 500-ml. bottles ($3.99) and on draft. Based in Somerset, England, Thatchers is marketed in the U.S. by Innis & Gunn USA.
