•Tuscany’s Tenuta Sette Ponti, part of the Kobrand porfolio in the U.S., is introducing a new 100% Sangiovese wine, Vigna dell’Impero, which will be made only in the best vintage years. Hitting the U.S. currently, Vigna dell’Impero’s first vintage is a 2012, in which 3,000 bottles were produced, positioned at around the $100 mark at retail. The wine is sourced from the oldest vineyard on the Sette Ponti estate, planted in 1935. Sette Ponti’s other wines include flagship Oreno Toscana IGT, as well as Crognolo Toscana IGT and Poggio al Lupo Maremma IGT.

•Brown-Forman’s Sonoma-Cutrer has released its first-ever Sauvignon Blanc. Rolling out as the third entry in Sonoma-Cutrer’s Winemakers Release Series, the new offering is produced with Russian River Valley-sourced fruit and makes its debut with a 2014 vintage. The Sonoma-Cutrer Sauvignon Blanc is currently available in select U.S. markets, priced at around $24.99 a 750-ml. Previous entries in Sonoma-Cutrer’s limited production Winemakers Release Series include Late Harvest Chardonnay, as well as Founders Reserve Legacy, a premium Chardonnay offering.

•Italian spirits producer Contratto is adding two new additions to its portfolio in the U.S., Contratto Aperitif and Contratto Bitter. Using recipes that date to 1933, both offerings are made from Barbera grapes from Piedmont, macerated with botanicals and herbs. Contratto Aperitif (13.5%-abv) is positioned to compete with Aperol, while Contratto Bitter is aligned in the same competitive segment as Campari. Both retail at $29.99 a 1-liter, and follow Contratto’s U.S launch of its boutique vermouth range in 2013. Giuliana Imports, Michael Skurnik Wines and Indigenous Selections serve as the company’s importers. Contratto was acquired in 2011 by Giorgio Rivetti, proprietor and winemaker at Piedmont winery La Spinetta.
