•San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing Co. has launched Anchor Barrel Ale, the third release in its Argonaut Collection. Brewed as a tribute to Anchor founder Fritz Maytag, Anchor Barrel Ale is at 7.5% abv and is being sold in 4-packs for a limited time period. The beer was aged in Old Potrero whiskey barrels and on their charred staves, producing whiskey notes and woody aromas balanced with coffee, toffee, and roasted malt flavors. Anchor Barrel Ale joins Flying Cloud Stout (7.4% abv) and Double Liberty IPA (8.2% abv) in the Argonaut Collection.

•Newport, Oregon’s Rogue Ales is adding to its line of doughnut-inspired ales with the release of Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Mango Astronaut Ale. The 5.3%-abv brew is made in collaboration with Oregon-based Voodoo Doughnuts, with inspiration from its Voodoo Mango Tango doughnut. Rogue’s other doughnut ales include Voodoo Lemon Chiffon Crueller Ale; Bacon Maple Ale; Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Banana Ale and Pretzel, Raspberry & Chocolate Ale. Voodoo Doughnut Mango Astronaut Ale is available nationwide in pink 750-ml. bottles.

•Cold Spring, Minnesota-based Third Street Brewhouse is rolling out Sugar Shack Maple Stout, a winter seasonal made in collaboration with Minnesota’s Saint John’s Abbey Arboretum. The 6.5%-abv stout is made with maple syrup harvested locally at the abbey, along with specialty malts. It will be available November through February on draft and at retailers throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Superior, Wisconsin. Third Street’s lineup of seasonal beers also includes Spotlight India Pale Ale, Hunny Do Wheat Beer and Jack’d Up Autumn Ale.
