Jack Daniel’s Unveils Rye Addition Within Revamped Single Barrel Series

February 10, 2016

Brown-Forman is introducing a new Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye whiskey into national distribution this month. The third offering in the brand’s Single Barrel series—joining Single Barrel Select and Barrel Proof—the rye has a grain bill of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley. Single Barrel Rye is 94 proof and will retail at around $50 a 750-ml. bottle. The rye category continued its strong U.S. growth in 2015, rising nearly 20% to 670,000 cases, according to DISCUS.

Brown-Forman tells SND that a recent update of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel series lends the line to further innovation activity. “Our recent rebrand and launch of the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection gives our master distiller (Jeff Arnett) a wonderful platform for innovation,” says John Higgins, vice president, Jack Daniel’s brand director, North America.

The company is also looking to leverage the 150th anniversary of the Jack Daniel’s Distillery this year. “In conjunction with the anniversary, we’ll be releasing a limited-edition ultra-premium product in late October,” Higgins adds.
