Craft Brewing And Distilling News for August 8, 2016August 8, 2016
•Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) shipments fell 1.4% in the first half of the year, with the Redhook, Widmer Brothers and Omission brands facing pressure from “competitive challenges.” CBA’s Kona brand, however, continued to grow depletions during the six months ended June 30, rising 19% on the same period last year. Overall net sales rose 1.3% to $102 million, buoyed by improved pricing and increased guest counts at CBA’s brewpubs, among other factors. CBA, whose portfolio also includes Square Mile Cider Co., is projecting shipments growth of 1%-2% for the full year, fueled in part by ramped up production of partner brands such as Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Cisco Brewers and Pabst Brewing.
•Massachusett-based Wachusett Brewing Co. is extending its Nauti Seltzer brand into four new markets—Ohio, Illinois, Georgia and Florida—adding to a distribution footprint that already included New England, much of the mid-Atlantic and Wisconsin. Concurrently, Nauti has launched a new variety pack featuring Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Grapefruit and Cranberry flavors of the brand’s 5%-abv alcoholic seltzers. Wachusett says it has seen strong demand for the Nauti range since its launch in April.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
