Exclusive: Whiskies And Tequila Top Impact’s “Hot Prospect” Spirits Brands

September 2, 2016

Impact’s latest lineup of spirits “Hot Prospects” highlights the two fastest-growing categories in the U.S market—whisk(e)y and Tequila. Whiskies account for 12 of the Hot Prospect spirits roster’s 28 winners, while Tequila claims seven honorees.

To qualify as Hot Prospects, spirits brands must have posted depletions of between 50,000-200,000 cases in 2015. They could be new products, or existing brands with at least 15% growth in 2015 and positive growth in 2013 and 2014.

Eighteen of the 28 Hot Prospect spirits brands had volumes above 100,000 cases, including Milagro, Tullamore Dew and Glenfiddich from William Grant & Sons; Cîroc Pineapple and Cîroc Apple from Diageo; Western Spirits’ Bird Dog; Brown-Forman’s Old Forester; Campari America’s Espolòn and Campari; Jim Beam Apple, Jim Beam Kentucky Fire and Basil Hayden’s from Beam Suntory; Sazerac Co.’s Buffalo Trace; Avión and Olmeca Altos from Pernod Ricard; Phillips Distilling’s Prairie Organic; Heaven Hill Brands’ Lunazul; and E.&J. Distillers’ E&J Peach.

The full list of Impact’s Hot Prospect spirits brands, along with complete data and analysis, appear in the September 1&15 issue of Impact—Christina Jelski
