William Grant Extends Tullamore Dew’s Single Malt Stable

September 8, 2016

William Grant & Sons’ Tullamore Dew has added a pair of single malt Irish whiskies to its core stable. Tullamore Dew 14 Year Old Single Malt and Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old Single Malt debut this month, retailing at $70 and $110 a 750-ml., respectively. Both triple-distilled expressions are finished in Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Port and Madeira casks and join the brand’s existing 10-Year-Old Single Malt entry. According to Paige Parness, U.S. senior brand manager for Tullamore Dew, the new offerings are intended to tap “a growing appetite for single malts in the U.S. market.”

The rollout comes as Tullamore Dew puts increased focus on innovation, unveiling its Cider Cask Finish offering across global travel retail in 2015, and debuting Tullamore Dew Trilogy, a 15-year-old offshoot, earlier this year. An Impact “Hot Prospect,” Tullamore Dew rose 26.4% to 185,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank. Meanwhile, Irish whiskey continues to surge in the U.S., with the category reaching a high of 3 million cases on nearly 18% growth in 2015. —Christina Jelski
