Thriving U.S. Malt Market Buoys Scotch Whisky In First HalfSeptember 19, 2016
A 9% increase in the value of exports to the U.S. market buoyed the global Scotch whisky category in the six months through June, according to the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA).
Scotch shipments to the U.S. totaled £357 million ($467m) during the period, despite a 3% volume decline to 53 million bottles. The single malt category alone enjoyed a 22% jump in the U.S. market during the first half, while blended Scotch was up 6%.
