Exclusive: Terlato To Launch New Napa Valley Brand, Maxville Wines

January 27, 2017

Terlato Wines is set to boost its presence in Napa Valley with the debut of the Maxville Wines brand. The launch heralds the start of Terlato’s long-term partnership with Maxville Lake, a new state-of-the-art winery in the Napa region’s Chiles Valley that sits on 1,000 acres, 100 of which are currently under vine. Maxville has annual case production of about 40,000 cases.

Terlato will introduce four wines from Maxville, whose vineyards are at an elevation of 900 to 1,200 feet: a Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Franc ranging in price from $55-$66 a bottle; and a Sauvignon Blanc positioned at $33. The wines were crafted by Bordeaux-born Camille Benitah, formerly of Merus.

Terlato CEO Bill Terlato said Maxville is set to become a “must-see destination winery,” based in one of Napa Valley’s rural, undiscovered areas. Maxville Lake is owned by the Bay Area-based Oranos Group, led by CEO Anthony Hsu. The new brand joins Terlato’s existing Napa Valley portfolio, which includes Chimney Rock, Episode, Galaxy, Jack Nicklaus Wines, Luke Donald Collection, Markham Vineyards, Rutherford Hill, Tangley Oaks and Terlato Vineyards. —Daniel Marsteller
