Edrington Acquires The Glenrothes Single Malt From Berry Bros. & RuddMay 2, 2017
Edrington has bolstered its single malt Scotch whisky stable with the acquisition of The Glenrothes brand from Berry Bros. & Rudd. In the U.S., the move will see The Glenrothes move to Edrington Americas from current distributor Anchor Distilling. Impact Databank estimates the brand at approximately 12,000 cases in the U.S.
Edrington already owns The Glenrothes distillery and cooperage, and has produced the brand for Berry Bros. & Rudd the past seven years. Gordon Motion, Edrington’s master whisky maker, will continue to oversee production.
The Glenrothes joins an Edrington portfolio that also includes The Macallan, Highland Park, Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark Scotch whiskies, as well as Partida Tequila and Snow Leopard vodka. Last year, Whisky Advocate named The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve as its Speyside Single Malt of the Year.—Daniel MarstellerSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
