Whisky Advocate Unveils New Website, Expands Editorial Staff

May 10, 2017

Whisky Advocate, part of the M. Shanken Communications family of publications, has launched a redesigned website and bolstered its editorial staff to better serve whisky lovers across the globe. The new site’s visually enhanced aesthetics provide an improved user experience across desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

The new website, whiskyadvocate.com, includes over 3,500 searchable ratings and reviews covering hundreds of brands across all whisk(e)y categories from Scotch to Bourbon. A new section, Whisky 101, is dedicated to empowering whisky lovers with the knowledge to fully understand their dram—from the basics to instant expert guides. The site also features a wealth of cocktail recipes, from classics like the Mint Julep to original creations from the top bartenders. In addition, there’s a news section devoted to keeping whisky lovers updated on the latest developments across the category, and a video series featuring Whisky Advocate editors delving into trending topics, hot whiskies and more.

The redesign includes a dedicated section covering all the WhiskyFest events, making it easy for people to buy tickets and plan their WhiskyFest tasting evening.

The revamped website follows a series of changes in Whisky Advocate’s masthead. Effective April 30, M. Shanken Communications chairman Marvin R. Shanken, who acquired the magazine in 2010, became Editor and Publisher. Last year, veteran M. Shanken writer Jeffery Lindenmuth was tapped as executive editor. More recently, Susannah Skiver Barton was named digital editor and senior whisky specialist, while Adam Polonski has joined the editorial team as senior whisky specialist.

“We recognized a need to create an enhanced digital experience to help whiskey lovers delve deeper into their passion and the world of whisky. The website is part of a new chapter for Whisky Advocate, as we plan on expanding our digital presence even further in the upcoming year,” said Shanken.
