•Wine Spectator kicked off Vinexpo, the international wine-trade fair held biennially in Bordeaux, on Sundayby gathering experts and industry pioneers to tackle one of the most critical issues facing the global wine community: climate change. Senior editor Dana Nigro served as moderator for “Fire and Rain: Climate Change and the Wine Industry,” a lively and thought-provoking discussion of the environmental issues facing vintners today and in the future. Wine Spectator has the full recap.

•MillerCoors is officially re-launching clear malt beverage brand Zima in the U.S. Rolling out ahead of the July 4th weekend, six-packs of Zima will be available nationwide for a limited time through Labor Day. MillerCoors tells SND that the six-packs will be priced in line with the company’s existing flavored malt beverage portfolio, at around $8.49 each. Zima, which peaked in popularity during the 1990s, has been absent from the U.S. since 2008. Prompted by the recent success of newer malt beverage offerings such as Not Your Father’s Root Beer, Anheuser-Busch’s Best Damn Root Beer and MillerCoors’ own Henry’s Hard Soda, however, MillerCoors announced plans to bring back the Zima brand earlier this year.

•In July, Vino Del Sol will launch Zolo Signature Rosé across the U.S. Produced by Zolo, a sustainably farmed winery in Mendoza, the wine is an estate-grown blend of 60% Syrah, 35% Bonarda and 5% Cabernet Franc, featuring fruit sourced from vineyards more than 3,000 feet above sea level. Vino Del Sol is the exclusive importer for Zolo and its parent company Tapiz. Zolo Signature Rosé will retail nationally for a suggested price of $10 a 750-ml.

•Global Spirits has inked a new distribution agreement with Heidelberg Distributing in Kentucky. Under the partnership, Heidelberg will handle Global Spirits’ Khortytsa Vodka portfolio, which includes Platinum, Ice, Honey Pepper and De Luxe expressions ($9.99-$23.99 a 750-ml.), and its Odessa Brandy ($10.99) throughout the state. Global Spirits—whose stable also includes the LEAF Organic Vodka brand—sells more than 7.5 million cases globally, with distribution in over 80 countries.
