•Charlotte, North Carolina-based Sycamore Brewing has released its four flagship beers in cans for the first time, following a $2.5 million expansion. The company has introduced Southern Girl Blonde, Countryside IPA, High Tide Wheat and Sun Grown Fresh Craft Lager in 16-ounce cans. The brewery is hosting a launch party, dubbed CANtopia on July 7, at the Hawkins Street location in Charlotte. For the next year, Sycamore’s canned beers will only be available at retail shops and bars in North Carolina, with further expansion expected in the coming years.

•New Jersey’s Cape May Brewing Co. has hired John Appel as its COO. Appel has 15 years of experience in food and beverage investment and management; he founded Emigrant Savings Bank’s food and beverage investment group and, beginning in 2012, managed San Francisco-based Magnolia Brewing Co.’s operations and finances. Founded by Ryan Krill, Bob Krill and Chris Henke in 2011, Cape May Brewing is currently present in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.
