•Virginia Distillery Co. has expanded its distribution footprint, entering seven new states and Washington D.C. Virginia-Highland Whisky ($60 a 750-ml.) is now available in limited quantities in Georgia (United Distributors), Massachusetts (Horizon Beverage), Connecticut (CDI), New York (Blueprint Brands), New Jersey (Breakthru), Maryland (Breakthru), Illinois (Breakthru), Michigan (Great Lakes Wine and Spirits), Virginia and Washington D.C. (Breakthru). The company’s Virginia-Highland Whisky is a 46%-abv Port cask-finished blend of whisky from Scotland and whisky from the company’s Virginia facility.

•Lincoln, Nebraska-based Empyrean Brewing Company will release its newest seasonal brew, Pitched Blue, later this month. The beer, which clocks in at 5.5% abv and is brewed with blueberry juice, is lightly hopped for a malt forward profile. Pitched Blue will be available in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and on draft in Empyrean’s Midwest distribution footprint.
