Patrón Extends Core Range At The High End With Extra Añejo

September 13, 2017

Patrón is making its first new addition to its core range in 25 years with the launch of an Extra Añejo Tequila. Retailing at $90 a 750-ml., Patrón Extra Añejo is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave and is aged for more than three years in a combination of new and used American, French and Hungarian oak barrels.

Patrón says the new offering dovetails with the rising connoisseur trend in the Tequila category, which has mirrored increasing demand for upscale Bourbons, Scotches and Cognacs. Extra Añejo joins Silver, Reposado (aged at least two months) and Añejo (aged for more than 12 months) in the core Patrón lineup. Patrón, including its Roca Patrón offshoot, grew 10% to 2.3 million cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
