•This week, St. Louis-based Schlafly Beer will release Single Malt Scottish Style Ale for a limited time. The 10.2%-abv golden ale is a blend of beer matured in ex-Ardbeg casks for four months with freshly brewed batches of the base ale. The beer is the sixth wood-aged or cellared release in Schlafly’s From the Ibex Cellar series. Schlafly Single Malt Scottish Ale will be available in the brewery’s 12 state distribution area in four-packs of 11.2-ounce bottles, retailing at $17.99.
•California’s Stone Brewing has launched Merc Machine Double IPA, the latest release in its Spotlight Series. The 9%-abv ale is billed as a hybrid of West Coast and New England IPA styles and uses Cascade, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Stone brewers Miguel Ceja Andrade and Brandon Berube created the Merc Machine recipe as part of the Spotlight program highlighting the creativity of the company’s staff. Merc Machine Double IPA is now available on draft and in 22-ounce bottles in 21 states.
