Florida Retailer Wine World Finds Success With Hybrid Concept

February 9, 2018

With four Wine World retail stores and seven on-premise locations across the Craft Bar and Wine Bar brands, Chan Cox’s hybrid concept is making its mark in the northwest Florida market. Cox says sales revenue is at $24 million, evenly split between the on- and off-premise sides.

Beverage alcohol sales are a significant contributor at the company’s on-premise venues—which are located adjacent to or within the retail stores—accounting for about half of total sales at The Craft Bar and 40% of sales at The Wine Bar. At the liquor stores—which range in size from 3,500 to 8,000 square feet—wine leads the way, representing 49% of sales, followed by spirits at 32%, beer at 10% and miscellaneous items at 9%. Wine World stocks nearly 1,300 wine SKUs and more than 1,100 spirits SKUs. Market Watch has an in-depth look at the company’s expanding business.
