Drinks Industry’s Leading Executives Address Impact’s 42nd Annual Marketing SeminarMarch 9, 2018
Yesterday, the biggest players in the beverage alcohol business gathered in New York City for the 42nd Annual Impact Marketing Seminar. Hosted by M. Shanken Communications chairman Marvin R. Shanken, the event featured presentations from top executives across the supplier, wholesaler and retailer tiers of the U.S. drinks industry.
The proceedings kicked off Wednesday night with a welcoming reception at Ousia, hosted by Pete Carr, president of Bacardi North America.
On Thursday, the Seminar’s attendees heard presentations from six speakers at the top of their respective areas of the drinks business. They included Javier Ferran, chairman of Diageo PLC, on “Marketing Luxury Spirits In A Changing World”; Tom Cole, president and CEO of Republic National Distributing Company, on “RNDC Looks To The Future Of Wholesale Distribution In America”; Pete Carr, president of Bacardi North America, on “Two Sides To Every Story: How Bacardi Got Its Swagger Back”; Kate Latts, vice president of marketing at Heaven Hill Brands, on “The Future Of Bourbon In America”; Ted Baseler, president and CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, on “Partnering To Build A Distinctive Fine Wine Portfolio”; and David Trone, founder and co-owner of Total Wine & More, on “Competing In The New Retail Landscape.”
Following the morning session, attendees gathered for a Champagne reception and then a luncheon held in the Pierre Hotel’s Cotillion Room. After the meal, Marvin R. Shanken introduced the Seminar’s luncheon speaker, two-term New Jersey governor Chris Christie. The former governor expounded on a host of topics ranging from the 2016 presidential campaign up through the current state of U.S. politics, then took questions from Shanken and the audience on hot-button issues including foreign affairs, gun control, immigration, economic policy, and more.
