•Diageo’s Smirnoff Spiked Sparkling Seltzer has extended with a Raspberry Rosé offering. The 4.5%-abv flavored malt beverage has zero sugar, no artificial sweeteners, and contains 90 calories per 12-ounce serving. Smirnoff’s Raspberry Rosé hard seltzer is now available nationwide in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans for a suggested price of $9 or in the brand’s variety 12-pack, which also includes Berry Lemonade, Cranberry Lime, and Watermelon seltzers.
•Champagne Charles Heidsieck, part of the Folio Fine Wine Partners portfolio in the U.S., has launched its first vintage 100%-Chardonnay Champagne since 1995, as well as a new non-vintage Blanc de Blancs. Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004 is sourced from five crus in the Côte des Blancs and is only the fifth release of the label since 1983. The Champagne house has also released a Blanc de Blancs NV, a blend of wines from the 2012 harvest (75%) and reserve wines (25%) aged for an average of 5 years. The 2004 Blanc des Millénaires is retailing for $250 and the Blanc de Blancs NV is at $96. Both are debuting in very limited quantities.
•Felix Juan Serrallés Nevares, the chairman of Puerto Rico’s Destilería Serrallés, has passed away at 83. Serrallés was a fifth-generation member of the rum dynasty, and served as president and CEO from 1981 until 2017. During his tenure, Destilería Serrallés aggressively expanded Don Q Rum’s international footprint, including a successful launch in the U.S. Known to family and friends as Don Fao, Serrallés carried on the legacy of his family company, which has produced rum in Puerto Rico since 1865.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
