•This morning, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits announced that it will be entering the Canadian legal cannabis market via subsidiary Great North Distributors. Great North Distributors will distribute products from cannabis company Aphria across the country starting later this year. Here’s the full story.

•Proximo Spirits’ 1800 Tequila is rolling out a new Artists Series of bottles designed by Shantell Martin. The series includes six limited-edition bottle designs in Martin’s signature black-and-white format, all inspired by 1800’s “Just Refined Enough” brand positioning. Retailing at $28 a 750-ml., 1800’s 2018 Essential Artists Series is launching now. The 1800 brand grew 6% to 1.1 million cases last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Sonoma-based Landmark Vineyards is releasing its first estate-grown Pinot Noir, sourced from the winery’s Hop Kiln Estate. Available nationwide, the 2016 Hop Kiln Estate Pinot Noir is retail priced at $40 a 750-ml. Landmark Vineyards acquired the Hop Kiln property, which spans 240 acres across the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley AVAs, in 2016. Landmark is a subsidiary of The Wonderful Company, which also owns Paso Robles’ Justin Wines, as well as Fiji Water and POM Wonderful, among other brands.

•Brown-Forman is going exclusive with broker Peter Mielzynski Agencies (PMA) in Canada. Under a new multi-year agreement effective July 1, PMA will handle the Brown-Forman portfolio—including Jack Daniel’s, Finlandia, El Jimador, Woodford Reserve, and others—across all Canadian provinces and territories. Brown-Forman’s Canadian distribution has previously been handled by The Hive Strategic Marketing. The move to PMA comes following the announcement earlier this week that Breakthru Beverage has become a minority shareholder in PMA, whose other shareholders include William Grant & Sons, Distell, Gruppo Italiano Vini, and Peter Mielzynski Jr.
