Craft Brewing and Distilling News for June 13, 2018June 13, 2018
•California’s Stone Brewing and Societe Brewing have teamed up to release The Skedaddler IPA. The 7%-abv ale is brewed with American, Australian, German, and New Zealand hops, for a dry beer driven with citrus, stone fruit, and tropical flavors, according to the breweries. The Skedaddler is launching across the U.S. and will be available exclusively on draft.
•Baderbrau Brewing, a pioneer of the Illinois craft beer scene in the 1980s, has closed its 25,000-square-foot brewery on Chicago’s south side and put it up for sale. The business continues to sell existing inventory from a taproom that remains open. Baderbrau was founded in 1989 as a Czech-style pilsner and went bankrupt in 1997, when it was acquired by Goose Island Brewing Co. It eventually lost its Goose Island sponsorship and was acquired by a Chicago investor, Robert Sama, who’s the current owner. Chicago’s local craft beer market has become intensely competitive over the years, with more than 225 breweries now operating in Illinois.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
