•William Grant & Sons has released Hendrick’s Orbium, the gin label’s first line extension in the U.S. The 43.4%-abv gin is made with quinine, wormwood, and lotus blossom and was previously a U.K. exclusive. Orbium is a limited release of 5,000 cases and will be available exclusively in the on-premise in select accounts across the U.S. Hendrick’s has been leading the charge for super-premium gin, consistently posting double-digit growth and reaching 370,000 cases last year.
•California cannabis company Vertical, run by drinks industry veteran J. Smoke Wallin, has partnered with Colorado’s Kaviar to distribute high-end cannabis products to retailers in California and Arizona. Kaviar produces pre-rolled cannabis joints made with oil-infused flowers rolled in kief (a concentrated form of cannabis) as its signature product. Its portfolio also includes Moonrocks, which is a brand of infused cannabis rolled in kief and oil to create a high-THC product. Vertical will lead distribution, sales, and marketing for Kaviar in the new markets.
•Portland, Oregon-based Eastside Distilling has named Robert Manfredonia as president. Previously Eastside’s vice president of national accounts, Manfredonia’s 25-year career also includes time with Duvel Moortgat USA, Miller Brewing, and others. Eastside’s line-up includes Burnside Bourbon, West End American Whiskey, Goose Hollow Reserve, Below Deck Rums, Portland Potato Vodka, Hue-Hue Coffee Rum, and a line of fruit infused spirits.
