•Virtue Cider, of Fennville, Michigan, is launching Mezzo Spritz, a new low-abv canned product blending cider, sparkling water, and botanicals. At 3.5%-abv, 6-packs of the brand’s initial Blood Orange flavor will launch in New York and Chicago in March. The company suggests drinking Mezzo Spritz straight out of the can, over ice, or mixed into cocktails. Virtue Cider was fully acquired by AB Inbev in 2017 following a 51% investment by the brewing giant in 2015.
•Paso Robles, California-based Firestone Walker Brewing Company has released Mind Haze IPA ($10 a 6-pack), a long-in-the-works hazy IPA. Firestone Walker says the 6.2%-abv brew was inspired by German Weizenbocks as much as it was by East Coast-style IPAs. Mind Haze IPA will be available throughout Firestone Walker’s 33-state distribution area.
•St. Louis-based Schlafly Beer is debuting its flagship pale ale in canned format. The 4.4%-abv copper-colored ale is rolling out in 12-packs of 16-ounce cans (retailing at $14), which also feature updated branding intended to create a more modern look. Over the past year, Schlafly has also introduced its White Lager, Hoppy Wheat, and Oktoberfest in 12-packs of 16-ounce cans, as well as its Raspberry Cider and Hop Allocation series beers.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
