•Zonin is launching a new Orange-Cran Riviera Spritz. Retailing at $13 a 750-ml., the new entry is capitalizing on the spritz trend in the U.S. and is characterized by orange and cranberry flavors blended with sparkling wine. It’s rolling out now across on- and off-premise accounts throughout the U.S. Zonin’s range also includes a Coastal Lemon Spritz. Zonin’s core Prosecco depleted 370,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Bacardi is cutting greenhouse gas emissions of its namesake rum brand in half. The company opened a new Combined Heat & Power (CHP) system at its distillery in Puerto Rico that replaces heavy fuel oil with propane gas. The system will generate 100% of the energy used at the campus including the distillery, offices, and the Casa Bacardi visitor center. Bacardi says it’s committed to cutting 50% of its greenhouse gas emissions globally, across the business, by 2025.
•Old Forester has released the second annual batch of its limited-edition King Ranch whiskey. Available only in Texas, Old Forester King Ranch Edition is bottled at 105 proof from a proprietary batch of Old Forester Bourbon using heavily charred barrels. The Bourbon is finished through charcoal created from mesquite trees harvested from the ranch. It retails at $90 a bottle. Old Forester depleted 427,000 cases in the U.S. last year according to Impact Databank. This year the brand’s volume rose 13% in control states through June.
•Compass Box is introducing a new limited edition blended malt Scotch whisky, Art & Decadence. The 49% abv offering retails at $180 a 750-ml. and will be available nationwide beginning November 1. Art & Decadence draws on Madeira, Sauternes and Marsala casks. It includes whisky from Balmenach Distillery, Linkwood Distillery, and Glen Moray Distillery. Just under 9,500 bottles are rolling out worldwide.
