June 21, 2011• Bordeaux wine exports demonstrated significant growth in the first three months of 2011, according to the trade group Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB). Overall export volumes were up 29% to 446,278 hectoliters (4.96m cases) as value jumped 37%, to €436.2 million ($704.6m). Growth continues to be most pronounced in Hong Kong and China, where, respectively, 2010 export values surged 130% and 121%, and volumes rose 120% and 67%, according to Impact Databank.
• Pernod Ricard has chosen Soap Creative to head the global digital account for wine brand Jacob’s Creek. Soap will be responsible for developing the brand’s digital strategy and activation, and the firm’s first push is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year. Euro RSCG, meanwhile, will continue on as Jacob’s Creek’s above-the-line creative agency.
