MHUSA Partners With Southern In All 18 Control States, Following Diageo’s Lead

July 1, 2011

Moët Hennessy USA has signed a pact with Southern Wine & Spirits making Southern its distribution partner in all 18 control states, just two weeks after Diageo North America reached a similar agreement with Southern. Under the terms of the accord, Southern will have exclusive rights to represent Moët Hennessy USA spirits brands in Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming. Southern will also handle Moët Hennessy’s wine and Champagne brands in Mississippi, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wyoming. The deal doesn’t include Montgomery County or Worcester County, Maryland. With Diageo North America and Moët Hennessy USA already sharing common distributors in most key U.S. states, their new control state pacts with Southern align them even more closely.
