Glazer’s Set To Acquire San Antonio’s Halo To Reach New Heights In Beer Distribution

August 25, 2011

Glazer’s Distributors, already one of the U.S. market’s top 25 beer wholesalers (and one of the five largest spirits and wine wholesalers), looks as if it will soon be getting significantly larger. The Dallas-based distributor has reached an agreement to acquire Halo Distributing of San Antonio, according to sources close to the deal.

An acquisition of Halo, one of Texas’s top MillerCoors houses, would mark Glazer’s first move into a leading metropolitan beer market (with a population of more than 1.3 million, San Antonio is the second-biggest city in Texas and the seventh-largest city in the U.S.). It would also push Glazer’s beer distribution revenue into the neighborhood of $500 million, likely making the company one of the top 10 U.S. beer wholesalers—and one of the biggest MillerCoors distributors in the country. Neither Glazer’s nor Halo could be reached for comment.
