•Whisky Advocate has named Elijah Craig Barrel No. 3735 as its American Whiskey of the Year. The 20-year-old offering from Heaven Hill Distilleries retails for $150 a 750-ml. Individual winners from the 18th annual installment of the Whisky Advocate Awards are being unveiled one day at a time through February 13 at WhiskyAdvocateBlog.com, and will also be featured in the magazine’s upcoming Spring edition, due out March 1.

•Heaven Hill Distilleries has added a new flavor extension to the Burnett’s vodka line, Blue Raspberry. The 35%-abv entry is priced at $9.99 a 750-ml. and will also be available in 1.75-liter, 1-liter and 50-ml. sizes. The new addition marks the 26th flavor in the Burnett’s portfolio. “We have a reasoned approach to flavor development. The most important element is relevancy to our core consumers,” Reid Hafer, senior brand manager, Burnett’s gin and vodkas, told Shanken News Daily. “As a result, we’ve avoided esoteric flavors.” Burnett’s was an Impact “Hot Brand” from 2006–2010, but saw a volume decline of 4.3% to 1.68 million cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
