Ornellaia Founder Antinori Debuts New Tenuta Di Biserno Wines In U.S.April 4, 2012
Marchese Lodovico Antinori, founder of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, is unveiling a new project, Tenuta di Biserno, with three wines now entering the U.S. market through New York’s Wade & Clark Wine Imports. Sourced from a 45-hectare (111-acre) vineyard in the Upper Maremma area of western Tuscany, Tenuta di Biserno’s offerings include Il Pino di Biserno ($80 a 750-ml. bottle), Biserno ($180) and Lodovico ($280, only made in great vintages), all produced from Bordeaux varietals with an emphasis on Cabernet Franc.
Tenuta di Biserno joins a Marchese Lodovico Antinori Estates (MLAE) portfolio also including Insoglio del Cinghiale, also from the Upper Maremma; Coronato from Tenuta dei Pianali in Bolgheri; Baron Bornemisza Tokaji from Hungary; and Mount Nelson and Ram’s Hill Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. Tenuta di Biserno will have initial distribution in metro New York and other key U.S. markets. Antinori founded MLAE in 2002 after Ornellaia was jointly acquired by Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi Wine Company.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
