Carriage House Launches Scoops, Its First Still Wine Brand

May 7, 2012

New Jersey-based Carriage House Imports—known for its Verdi, Sparkletini and Bosca Spumante sparkling wine brands—has launched Scoops, its first still wine label. Created in partnership with California winemaker Steven Mirassou, Scoops features red and white blends sourced from the California coast. Targeted toward the young LDA female segment, the brand retails at $8.99 a 750-ml. and will first roll out in 14 U.S. markets before expanding nationally.

In addition to being the first still wine in the portfolio, Scoops is also the first brand fully controlled by Carriage House president Stephen Karp and his son, Todd Karp, the company’s senior vice president, sales and marketing. “We saw this as a good opportunity to enter the red and white blend category, which has been doing extremely well,” Todd Karp told Shanken News Daily, adding that there have been preliminary discussions about adding more wines to the Scoops line.

The core of the Carriage House portfolio remains its Italian sparklers Verdi and Sparkletini—both Impact “Hot Brands,” which sold a combined 1.5 million cases last year. The company’s portfolio also includes Milenario brandy, Zambello Sambuca, Dooley’s liqueur and the Figenza and Kleiner Feigling vodkas.
