Wines At $11-And-Up Driving U.S. Market’s Growth, Says IRIMay 25, 2012
U.S. wine volume is up 3% in the year-to-date through May 13 in SymphonyIRI channels, with wines priced $11 a bottle and up driving growth with a 16% advance. Domestic wines (+4%) have so far outpaced imports (+1%) in 2012, with New Zealand (+22%) the fastest-growing import category in the year to date. Imported sparkling wine, however, remains a hot category—up 13% and led by Prosecco’s 67% surge. The Wine Group’s Cupcake and Constellation’s Rex Goliath have been the fastest growing brands among the wine market leaders so far this year.
