Boston Beer Enters Craft Spirits Market Via Joint Venture With Berkshire Distillers

June 18, 2012

Boston Beer Co. has partnered with Great Barrington, Massachusetts-based Berkshire Mountain Distillers to produce the brewer’s first craft spirits entries. The two have begun distilling a pair of whiskies made from Boston Beer’s Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Samuel Adams Cinder Bock, a limited-edition offering. The whiskies—which will feature the Samuel Adams brand name on the label—are expected to roll out in two years, with the initial batch totaling just 1,000 cases. Although pricing has not yet been set, Boston Beer told local media that the whiskeys will retail above the $40 range.
